TechScript Language & WebForge Framework Completeness Audit Report

Report Version: 2.0.0-GA
Audit Scope: Full Language, Lexer, Parser, AST, Semantic Analyzer, Runtime/VM, WebForge Framework, Client Engine, CSS & 3D Subsystems, Conformance Testing, and Official Website.
Execution Date: October 2026
Auditor: TechScript Core Language Architecture Team

Executive Summary

This comprehensive audit evaluates the entire TechScript programming language and its official fullstack framework, WebForge. TechScript is designed to be a readable, statically-typed, general-purpose language capable of compiling high-performance native executables and expressive client-side web applications without requiring developers to manually write boilerplate JavaScript, HTML, or CSS.

Prior to this audit and remediation cycle, several core web capabilities (such as rich web UI components, custom 3D CSG boolean geometry, event triggers, and nested block parsing) suffered from an architectural mismatch: features were either partially mocked or hardcoded directly in Rust string templates instead of being fully represented in the TechScript grammar, AST, semantic analyzer, and runtime lowering pipeline.

This report documents every capability across the language ecosystem, identifies what was missing or broken, details the exact architectural remedies implemented, and sets clear acceptance criteria and conformance benchmarks.

1. Core Language & Compiler Pipeline

1.1 Lexer, Tokenizer & Keyword Grammar

  • Why It Matters: The lexical scanner (techscript_lexer) transforms raw UTF-8 source code into high-fidelity tokens. Ambiguous token rules or missing keyword mappings cause valid code to fail before parsing.
  • Implementation & Files:
    • compiler/syntax/src/token_kind.rs
    • compiler/syntax/src/keywords.rs
    • compiler/lexer/src/lib.rs
  • Status: Implemented & Verified
  • Findings & Root Cause:
    • Numeric identifier prefixes (e.g. 3D) were split by Logos into IntDecimal("3") and Identifier("D"). Previously, the parser expected an exact single identifier token for 3D, causing make 3D and show 3D to fail.
    • Deprecated keywords (build, fun, make, let) emitted helpful diagnostics, but make when used in DSL contexts was incorrectly breaking outer block scopes.
  • Architectural Remedy:
    • Registered all DSL keywords (make, model, part, box, cylinder, sphere, cone, roof, wall, door, chimney, cut, boolean, outline, extrude, bevel, timeline, step, milestone, accordion, tabs, tab, stats, stat, alert).
    • Added token lookahead normalization in the parser to recognize both single-token and split-token 3 + D sequences seamlessly.
  • Acceptance Criteria: techscript_lexer scans all canonical keywords without panics or token corruption; numeric-prefixed DSL elements tokenize reliably.

1.2 Parser, AST & Grammar Representation

  • Why It Matters: The parser transforms tokens into a strongly-typed Abstract Syntax Tree (techscript_ast). All language constructs—including UI layouts, components, 3D solids, and API routes—must exist as first-class AST nodes.
  • Implementation & Files:
    • compiler/parser/src/parser.rs
    • compiler/parser/src/statements.rs
    • compiler/parser/src/declarations.rs
    • compiler/ast/src/dsl.rs
  • Status: Implemented & Verified
  • Findings & Root Cause:
    • The DSL body loop in statements.rs previously assumed only TokenKind::Identifier could initiate a block element or property, rejecting valid keywords like make, model, or part.
    • Global break conditions terminated page blocks prematurely upon seeing make, confusing variable declaration syntax with DSL scene instantiation (make 3D "Model").
    • Child elements inside nested containers (stats, timeline, accordion, tabs) did not have container boundary termination checks, causing subsequent sections to be misattributed as children of previous accordion items.
  • Architectural Remedy:
    • Refined is_global_break to only trigger on make if followed by a website or website.
    • Added explicit container break rules for stats, timeline, accordion, tabs, item, step, tab, and alert.
    • Normalized inline property assignment (title is "...", color is "#...", by 2.5).
  • Acceptance Criteria: Zero parse errors on nested component blocks and multi-level 3D model definitions.

1.3 Semantic Analysis & Type System

  • Why It Matters: Validates scope, variable declaration, symbol resolution, and DSL block schemas, catching developer errors at compile time with detailed diagnostic spans.
  • Implementation & Files:
    • compiler/semantic/src/symbol_table.rs
    • compiler/semantic/src/dsl_schema.rs
    • compiler/semantic/src/passes/collect.rs
    • compiler/semantic/src/passes/validate_dsl.rs
  • Status: Implemented & Verified
  • Findings & Root Cause:
    • DSL elements assigned named handles via called <Name> or as <Name> were not hoisted into the semantic symbol table, causing event handlers (when SubmitBtn is clicked:) to trigger E0300: Undefined variable 'SubmitBtn'.
    • WebForge built-in runtime functions (web_api_send, web_start_website, web_render_html) and standard event names (clicked, submitted, changed, hovered) were missing from the global built-in symbol table.
    • DSL schemas lacked entries for mode, format, text in tabs, and component properties.
  • Architectural Remedy:
    • Updated CollectDecls to traverse DSL trees and hoist all declared element IDs into the scope table.
    • Added WebForge builtins and standard UI event identifiers to symbol_table.rs.
    • Expanded dsl_schema.rs with complete schemas for rich UI components and CAD modeling operations.
  • Acceptance Criteria: Full semantic check passes on all pages with zero diagnostic warnings or false undefined variable errors.

2. WebForge Full-Stack Framework Architecture

2.1 Component Architecture & Lowering Engine

  • Why It Matters: Developers must be able to express buttons, cards, navigation, grids, timelines, accordions, tabs, stat panels, and alert banners purely in declarative TechScript code.
  • Implementation & Files:
    • stdlib/src/web/renderer.rs
    • stdlib/src/web/styles.rs
    • stdlib/src/web/runtime_js.rs
  • Status: Implemented & Verified
  • Capabilities Delivered:
    1. Animated Buttons: Configurable variants (glow, shimmer, cyber, outline, glass, pill), sizes, icons, and micro-animations (pulse, bounce, float, glitch).
    2. Timelines & Milestones: Chronological roadmap steps with date badges, status indicators (completed, active, upcoming), and icons.
    3. Accordions & FAQ Panels: Accessible, animated collapsible sections with dynamic toggle arrows and auto-collapse support.
    4. Tabbed Switchers: Tab bars with active state indicators and zero-JS-required CSS fallback switching.
    5. Stats & Metrics Grids: Key performance indicators with trend badges and numeric values.
    6. Alert Banners: Contextual notification boxes (success, tip, warning, error) with matching borders and icons.
  • Acceptance Criteria: All components render semantic HTML, apply design token styling, and function without requiring custom ad-hoc JavaScript.

2.2 Client-Side Routing & Navigation

  • Why It Matters: Modern web apps require instant page navigation, deep linking, browser history support (Back/Forward buttons), and graceful fallback for direct URL access.
  • Implementation & Files:
    • stdlib/src/web/runtime_js.rs (webforgeRouter)
    • stdlib/src/web/server.rs
  • Status: Implemented & Verified
  • Findings & Root Cause:
    • Direct URL access to nested paths (e.g., http://localhost:3000/playground) was returning 404 because the server previously tried to locate a static asset matching the URL instead of falling back to the SPA root HTML document.
    • Once client-side routing received the page, any missing page view due to compiler omission displayed the 404 container.
  • Architectural Remedy:
    • In server.rs, non-asset and non-API GET requests reliably serve the SPA container with Content-Type: text/html.
    • Client-side router handles pushState, hash changes, and direct pathname updates.
  • Acceptance Criteria: Refreshing or navigating directly to any registered route displays the correct page with active navigation highlights and correct document title.

2.3 Embedded SQLite & Real REST APIs

  • Why It Matters: WebForge applications must support real data persistence and backend APIs without requiring an external database server or complex ORM.
  • Implementation & Files:
    • stdlib/src/web/server.rs
    • stdlib/src/web/db.rs
  • Status: Implemented & Verified
  • Capabilities Delivered:
    • Automatic webforge.db creation using embedded SQLite.
    • Zero-config REST endpoints under /api/<table_name> for GET, POST, and OPTIONS.
    • JSON serialization with SQL injection protection via parameterized queries and sanitized table identifiers.
    • Dynamic client-side DOM reflection via webforgeLoadDatabase and webforgeSubmitForm.
  • Acceptance Criteria: POST to /api/feedback commits rows to SQLite; GET returns JSON arrays; UI automatically reflects persisted records.

3. 3D Graphics, CAD Modeling & CSG Engine

3.1 Procedural 3D Visualizer & Hardware Acceleration

  • Why It Matters: Interactive 3D graphics must render smoothly in the browser at 60 FPS using WebGL without heavy external asset loading delays.
  • Implementation & Files:
    • stdlib/src/web/runtime_js.rs (WebForge3D)
    • stdlib/src/web/renderer.rs
  • Status: Implemented & Verified
  • Capabilities:
    • Procedural geometries: scifi, crystal, torus, sphere, rings, quantum_chip, black_hole, mobius, dyson_swarm.
    • PBR specular shaders, real-time FPS telemetry, mouse orbit drag, and scroll-wheel zoom.

3.2 WebForge 3D Studio & Constructive Solid Geometry (CSG)

  • Why It Matters: Users must be able to create original 3D geometry (logos, buildings, machines, vehicles) and perform real boolean cuts (union, subtract, intersect) rather than merely picking canned presets.
  • Implementation & Files:
    • stdlib/src/web/runtime_js.rs (WebForgeCSG, WebForgeCustom3D)
    • stdlib/src/web/renderer.rs (render_custom_3d_studio)
  • Capabilities Delivered:
    1. Binary Space Partitioning (BSP) CSG Engine: Performs mathematical face splitting, polygon clipping, and interior capping to create genuine manifold geometry.
    2. Two-Way Synchronization: Edits in the 3D viewport update the TechScript source code, and editing code compiles in real time to update the geometry.
    3. Universal Exports: Export models to GLTF/GLB, Wavefront OBJ, STL (3D printing), and native .txs source code.
    4. SVG Extrusion: Import 2D vector paths and extrude them into 3D meshes with configurable bevel, depth, and materials.
  • Acceptance Criteria: Booleans produce valid hollowed/split geometry; exports download valid standard files; 3D viewport operates at 60 FPS.

4. Styling System & Visual Identity

4.1 Cyberpunk & High-Tech Design System

  • Why It Matters: The website and framework must present a world-class, premium visual aesthetic without generic browser defaults.
  • Implementation & Files:
    • stdlib/src/web/styles.rs
  • Color Palette & Constraints:
    • Dominant: Charcoal (#0a0d14, #0f1420), Deep Black (#05070a), Pure White (#f8fafc).
    • Accents: Neon Cyan (#06b6d4, #22d3ee), Deep Teal (#0d9488, #14b8a6), Emerald (#10b981), Amber (#f59e0b).
    • Strict Constraint: Purple and violet are prohibited across all themes and UI elements.
  • Design Tokens:
    • Glassmorphic panels with backdrop-filter: blur(16px) and 1px cyan borders.
    • Responsive Grid and Flexbox layouts.
    • Hardware-accelerated CSS keyframe animations (pulse, bounce, float, glitch, shimmer).
  • Acceptance Criteria: Aesthetic evaluation confirms a cohesive, premium cyberpunk aesthetic with dark mode by default.

7. Conclusion & Next Milestones

With the completion of this language and framework audit:

  1. TechScript grammar, AST, and semantic analyzer now fully represent and validate all web and 3D primitives natively.
  2. The WebForge rendering engine produces accessible, modern web components styled with a dedicated cyber-themed CSS system.
  3. The official website compiles 100% from declarative .txs source files through the actual compiler and CLI driver.
  4. Developers can build real, rich, interactive web applications directly in TechScript without writing hundreds of lines of boilerplate implementation code.
