GLM5 precision controls now cover dense/MoE activations and indexer Q/K consistently while preserving FP8 payloads and the original packed cache layout. The numerical fixes retain FP32 routing correction bias, the indexer LayerNorm epsilon of 1e-6, and the GLM5 mHC normalization/rounding recipe.
LIGHTLLM_ACTIVATION_SCALE_FORMAT=fp32 selects continuous FP32 activation and indexer scales without rounding or converting checkpoint weights. auto preserves each path's existing policy; ue8m0 rounds scales upward to powers of two. Backends requiring packed UE8M0 reject unsupported overrides.
LIGHTLLM_EP_SHARED_COMBINE_BIAS=1 opts GLM5 EP prefill into adding the separately computed shared-expert output inside DeepEP normal combine's FP32 accumulator, before the final output cast. GEMMs and communicated partials retain their existing precision. The low-latency decode path is unchanged; unsupported combine backends fail explicitly.
BF16 indexer scoring, its alternate cache format and mode-specific tests are removed. The existing FP8 cache, MTP and P/D transfer paths are retained.
This branch also integrates #1651, head bdda980dc16cb6f5dd7d85c21dbad542ab435383: GLM tool calls emitted inside reasoning reach the tool parser intact, literal argument markers survive stream boundaries, and the rendered prompt determines the initial phase consistently for reasoning extraction, string stops and grammar activation.
Validation for this revision: 714 CPU tests passed (666 parser/API/stop/grammar regressions plus 48 precision checks), 84 CUDA tests skipped, plus Black 21.12b0, flake8 and syntax/diff checks. CPU tests cover scale policy, the complete shared-output argument chain, exactly-once addition and the disabled/default call contract. Earlier hardware validation of the same normal-combine arithmetic passed 8 ranks × 11 cases, matching an independent FP32 reference starting from actual BF16 rank-local outputs (maximum absolute difference after final cast: 0). The cleaned revision has not had a new GPU or full TB run; no accuracy recovery is claimed.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Added an activation-scale format setting with auto, fp32, and ue8m0 options for quantization.
Improved GLM5-Next precision handling and shared-expert output support during prefill.
Bug Fixes
Improved expert selection and indexer precision, and refined quantization scale handling across supported paths.
Tests
Expanded coverage for activation-scale formats, GLM5-Next precision, and shared-expert behavior.
Use the indexer's dedicated LayerNorm epsilon of 1e-6 and retain MoE
correction bias in FP32 through checkpoint loading and TP/EP routing.
For GLM mHC, normalize activations in FP32 before the mapping projection,
using an IEEE FP32 Triton path independent of global TF32 settings. Keep
pre coefficients in FP32 and round post/residual coefficients to the
activation dtype before mixing. Preserve the existing fused FP32 post
accumulation and the legacy default path for other model families.
Add 11 CUDA regression cases covering actual GLM callers, pooled-indexer
selection, TP/EP routing, projection order and coefficient rounding,
including negative controls that reproduce the old numerical behavior.
Validation: Python 3.10 syntax/bytecode, line-width and whitespace checks,
independent source review, and CPU numerical counterexamples passed.
CUDA kernel compilation, GPU accuracy tests and latency measurements
remain pending because the requested GPU host was unreachable from the
authoring environment. No bitwise equivalence across reduction backends
or native versus fused post-mixing implementations is claimed.
Round the GLM residual mix to the activation dtype before post expansion, matching the default compiled native training path. Preserve the existing fused path for other models.
Account for two BF16 rounding steps after FP32 reduction differences, add a strict 3073-token FP32 projection check and another seed, and retain negative controls. Trim redundant test work and comments.
Validation: all 24 mHC and GLM precision cases passed on H200 in bsh_dsv4; syntax and whitespace checks passed.

The GLM5 pre-norm path normalizes inputs before projection and produces activation-dtype intermediate outputs. Tests compare the path with reference calculations, including overflow and coefficient-precision cases.
Rounded post processing lightllm/common/basemodel/triton_kernel/mhc/post.py, lightllm/models/glm5_next/layer_infer/transformer_layer_infer.py, unit_tests/common/basemodel/triton_kernel/mhc/test_mhc.py
The GLM5 post path rounds residual mixes and layer-output/post-mix products before addition. GLM5 layer calls enable this mode, and tests check its numerical behavior.
The activation-scale setting supports auto, fp32, and ue8m0 independently of weight-scale selection. Quantization paths use the selected policy, and tests cover environment selection, scale values, and dispatch behavior.
Indexer quantization and pool compression apply power-of-two scale rounding when UE8M0 activation scales are selected. Tests exercise the supported scale formats.
ModelTC/LightLLM#1531: Changes expert-parallel fused-MoE routing and dispatch, which overlaps with this PR’s shared-output and activation-scale updates.
ModelTC/LightLLM#1593: Adds the mHC kernels extended here with GLM5-specific numerical behavior.
ModelTC/LightLLM#1655: Changes GLM5 indexer state and storage, which is also affected by this PR’s indexer precision changes.
GLM5’s current shared-output path is unaffected, but other callers using the extended weight API with Triton can encounter an error. Resolve that API mismatch or accept the bounded risk before merging.

Remove the batch-dependent tl.constexpr parameters so the kernels do not recompile for every token count.
Triton compiles a new specialization for each distinct value of a tl.constexpr argument.
_multiply_rows declares ROWS: tl.constexpr. The caller sets it to weights.numel(), which is the token count times topk in TP, or the expanded chunk row count in EP prefill. The kernel body never reads ROWS.
_sort_tp_weights declares STRIDE: tl.constexpr. The caller sets it to expert_weights.stride(0), which equals topk * tokens_in_chunk.
Both values change with the batch. With glm5_numerics=True, each new prefill token count therefore triggers a new JIT compile on the request path. Each compile takes hundreds of milliseconds, and the specialization cache grows without a bound. Pass ROWS and STRIDE as ordinary runtime integers, or remove ROWS. COLS and BLOCK can stay constexpr because they do not change with the batch.

Add hardware and DeepGEMM skip conditions to the module guard.
The module only checks torch.cuda.is_available(). Some cases have stricter requirements:
test_tp_moe_routes_before_w2_with_tma_sorting_and_shared_expert[tma=True] makes grouped_matmul build TensorDescriptor objects, which need SM90 or newer.
The FP8 cases need FP8-capable hardware.
test_ep_decode_dispatch_to_combine_weights_exactly_once calls masked_group_gemm, which raises RuntimeError when ep.HAS_DEEPGEMM is false.
On CUDA machines that lack these features, the tests fail instead of being skipped. Add per-test skip conditions, as test_deepgemm_activation.py already does.

Handle shared_expert_output in the Triton implementation.
If a caller supplies shared_expert_output through FusedMoeWeight.experts with a Triton implementation, this call raises TypeError: FuseMoeTriton._fused_experts does not accept the forwarded keyword. The GLM5 non-EP branch currently avoids this call, but the extended weight API accepts the value. Add the shared output in the Triton path, or reject it explicitly at the weight API boundary.
