✅ Translation Quality Review

Verdict: PASS | Model: claude-sonnet-5 | Date: 2026-11-02
Routing: editor — 1 minor finding(s) in gating categories (accuracy/terminology/syntax/diff-check/other)
Shadow gate: would NOT auto-merge (recorded only; no action taken)

📝 Translation Quality

Criterion Score
Accuracy 10/10

Formatting 10/10
Overall 10/10

Summary: The modified 'Matrix Multiplication' section is a faithful, fluent, and correctly formatted translation with no syntax, accuracy, or terminology issues. The Matrix Multiplication section is translated accurately and concisely, preserving code and math exactly Terminology ('multiplication matricielle', 'produit matriciel', 'post-multiplication') matches glossary and standard French usage Section heading and anchor formatting correctly preserved

Overall 7.5/10

Summary: The target document's changes do not match the source's single, localized removal of a duplicate index directive; instead it removed blank lines across many unrelated sections.

Issues:

  • Source change was removal of a single duplicate '{index} single: NumPy; Matrix Multiplication' code block in the Matrix Multiplication section only
  • Target change instead removed blank lines between many unrelated sections throughout the document (Array Indexing, Arithmetic/Matrix Multiplication, Mutability, Additional Features, Implicit Multithreading/Exercises)
  • The +1/-19 line diff in target does not correspond to removing a single duplicated directive as in source; it appears to be whitespace/formatting changes unrelated to the source edit
  • No corresponding duplicate index directive removal found in the target's Matrix Multiplication section since it never had a duplicate

🟢 Approval recommended

No objective issues were identified, as the changes are limited to safe whitespace normalization that preserves structure, a valid wording refinement, and an auto-generated metadata update.

What changed in this PR

This is an automated translation-sync PR that propagates upstream source PR QuantEcon/lecture-python-programming#632 into the French (fr) translation. In the English source the change removed a duplicated {index} directive under the Matrix Multiplication section; because the French file never carried that duplicate, the net effect here is whitespace normalization (removing redundant blank lines) plus a minor wording refinement in the Matrix Multiplication paragraph, along with the usual translation-state metadata bump.

Changes:

  • Removes redundant consecutive blank lines before several section headers in lectures/numpy.md (each header still retains one preceding blank line, so MyST/Markdown structure is preserved).
  • Rewords one sentence: "tableaux plats … ce que vous voulez" → "tableaux unidimensionnels … ce que l'on veut".
  • Updates .translate/state/numpy.md.yml metadata (source SHA, sync date, model, mode UPDATE, tool version).
File Description
lectures/numpy.md Removes duplicate blank lines around headers and refines the Matrix Multiplication sentence wording; no structural/markdown breakage.
.translate/state/numpy.md.yml Auto-generated translation-state update (source SHA, synced-at date, model, mode, tool version).

I reviewed the diff and the surrounding file context. The blank-line removals all preserve a single blank line before each header, so rendering is unaffected, and the wording change is a valid French rendering of the source. No objective issues were found.

Review effort: Balanced

@Honaminto — could you review this sync before it merges? It follows the English change in QuantEcon/lecture-python-programming#632, which removed a duplicated index entry in numpy.md. Most of the diff is blank-line clean-up, but the engine also reworded one sentence in the Multiplication matricielle section:

  • Before: « La syntaxe fonctionne avec des tableaux plats --- NumPy devine intelligemment ce que vous voulez : »
  • After: « La syntaxe fonctionne avec des tableaux unidimensionnels --- NumPy devine intelligemment ce que l'on veut : »

If the new wording reads well to you, an approval is all that's needed; otherwise let us know which version to keep.
