fix(config): track the API's raised daily allowance (100000 an account, 5000 an IP) - #10
The API raised the daily usage limit for authenticated callers to 100,000 requests, and the
public limit to 5,000 (UsageLimitMediaAuthenticated / UsageLimitMediaPublicIP; every
response advertises them in X-UsageLimit-Limit). This client still carried the old pair, and it
was not merely stale text — the ceiling is enforced, so a config naming the real allowance was
refused outright:
$ plex-sync status --config demo.toml # demo.toml: theintrodb.daily_budget = 100000
plex-sync: theintrodb.daily_budget must not exceed the ceiling of 1000 requests a day
Same config, on this branch:
ledger /home/hermes/.config/plex-sync/plex-sync.db
requests today 0 of 5000 (5000 left according to the API)
(The 5000 is the anonymous allowance being budgeted for — there is no key in that config — and the
figure in brackets is the server's own X-UsageLimit-Remaining.) Beyond the refusal, the default
of 1000 meant a full pass over a 40,000-item library took about 40 days rather than one paced run.
The default DailyBudget now derives from AccountDailyBudget rather than repeating a literal,
so the default and the ceiling cannot drift apart again.
Every place the numbers were written out: README.md (the allowance paragraph and the config
table), docs/scheduling.md, docs/troubleshooting.md, the internal/tidb and internal/ledger
comments, and the TUI's services line and settings help.
The two "Large libraries" sections were rewritten rather than renumbered, because the premise
changed with the allowance: a 40,000-item library is no longer allowance-bound, it is pacing-bound — at most 25 requests per 10 seconds puts it at about four and a half hours.
Without a key, 5000/day still means working through a big library over several runs.
Tests
TestTheAllowancesMatchTheAPI — pins both numbers, naming the API constants in the message.
TestTheBudgetCeilingAcceptsTheAccountAllowance — sets daily_budget = 100000 and requires Validate() to accept it, then requires 100001 to be refused.
TestAnonymousClientBudgetsForTheAnonymousAllowance — reworked for the new numbers: a budget
above the anonymous allowance is still downgraded to it, a budget below it is left alone, a
keyed client keeps its configured budget, and 0 still means "uncounted".
internal/tui/settings_test.go — TestARejectedValueIsNotApplied typed a hardcoded 99999 as
"above the server's ceiling", which stopped being above it. It now types config.AccountDailyBudget+1, so the case stays a rejection test whatever the ceiling is.
RED, on the old constants:
--- FAIL: TestTheAllowancesMatchTheAPI
account allowance = 1000, want the API's 100000 (UsageLimitMediaAuthenticated)
--- FAIL: TestTheBudgetCeilingAcceptsTheAccountAllowance
the account allowance must be configurable: theintrodb.daily_budget must not exceed the ceiling of 1000 requests a day
go build, go vet and go test -count=1 ./... all pass on the change.
Not in this PR
Pacing is untouched. theintrodb.max_per_window = 25 guards the burst window (30 requests
per 10 seconds, unchanged by this), and the usage-limit wait path reads X-UsageLimit-Reset
rather than the limit itself, so neither needed to move.
The per-title cap for repeated requests to the same media (2000/day) is unchanged and is not
something this client configures.

Updates
The daily request allowance is now up to 100,000 with an API key and 5,000 without one. The default daily budget is 100,000; anonymous requests remain capped at 5,000.
Updated status and settings information reflects the new limits.
Documentation
Updated scheduling guidance with revised completion estimates for large libraries and clarified that runs can resume after reaching a time limit or allowance, or after an interruption.
Clarified that every response, including 404 responses, counts toward usage.
The API now allows 100000 requests per UTC day for an authenticated caller and
5000 per public IP (UsageLimitMediaAuthenticated / UsageLimitMediaPublicIP, the
values every response echoes in X-UsageLimit-Limit). This client still had 1000
and 500, and the old account figure was not just text: Validate() refuses a
budget above AccountDailyBudget, so a config naming the real allowance did not
run at all --
plex-sync: theintrodb.daily_budget must not exceed the ceiling of 1000 requests a day
-- and the default of 1000 made a 40000-item library take about 40 days instead
of one paced run.
The default now derives from AccountDailyBudget rather than repeating a literal,
so the default and the ceiling cannot drift apart again. The two "Large
libraries" sections are rewritten rather than renumbered, because the constraint
moved: a large library is no longer allowance-bound but pacing-bound (25
requests per 10 seconds, about four and a half hours for 40000 items).
Also fixes TestARejectedValueIsNotApplied, which typed a hardcoded 99999 as
"above the ceiling" and stopped being above it; it now types
AccountDailyBudget+1 so it stays a rejection test whatever the ceiling is.

Summary
Allowance defaults and validation internal/config/config.go, internal/config/config_test.go
The default daily budget now uses AccountDailyBudget. The account and anonymous allowances are 100,000 and 5,000. Tests cover the values, default, and validation boundary.
Comments, settings help, and the status screen show the updated allowance values. Related tests use the account allowance.
Allowance and scan guidance README.md, docs/scheduling.md, docs/troubleshooting.md
Documentation updates the allowance values and scan estimates. It also describes scan resumption and states that responses, including 404s, are recorded.
The scan-duration guidance may understate completion time; correct the rate wording before merging.

10 seconds as the default pacing limit, not a floor, and qualify the
four-and-a-half-hour duration as an estimate at that rate; note that slower
responses or a lower configured rate can extend the scan.

Included review availability: This review used your included allowance. Your plan provides up to 1 included review per hour; 0 remain after this review.
25 requests per 10 seconds is the most the client will send: MinDelay() is a
minimum *spacing* (0.4 s), so the rate is capped, not floored, and it is capped
at a configurable value -- max_per_window can be set lower, and slow responses
add on top. The four-and-a-half-hour figure is an estimate at the default rate,
so it says that now.
