Purpose

Closes #1285.

Common SQL names split, locate, date, typeof, hex, unhex, size and hour are not registered in SQLContext. Some require semantic adapters rather than simple aliases.

Brief change log

  • Add regex split with limits and Unicode locate, plus explicit hex/unhex encoding behavior.
  • Add array/map size, temporal hour extraction and SQL-style type labels including Variant and small decimals.
  • Alias native to_date with configuration forwarding and document NULL, error, regex, time and encoding contracts.

Tests

API and Format

Adds SQLContext SQL capabilities. No storage-format or Rust public API changes.

Documentation

Documented syntax, type/null/error behavior and supported limits in docs/src/sql.md.
