Bumps charts/aisix-cp and charts/aisix to version / appVersion 1.8.0. Merging publishes aisix-cp-1.8.0 and aisix-1.8.0.
charts/aisix-cp is synced from helm/aisix-cp at AISIX-Cloud v1.8.0. The only functional delta since 1.7.1 is the removal of the chart-1.5.0 compatibility layer: _legacy-env.tpl and its _env.tpl branch, the copying of AISIX_TRUSTED_ORIGINS / AISIX_AUTH_BEARER_SESSIONS from ui.extraEnvVars to cp-api, and the <release>-ui Service, along with the ui.service and ui.extraEnvVars values (ui.defaultLocale stays). The public adaptations are preserved: docker.io registries, an empty image tag resolving to appVersion, the real gateway image in NOTES, and the README.
The README's "Upgrading from 1.5.0" section is replaced with "Upgrading to 1.8.0". It covers three things. cp-api 1.8.0 refuses to start on a database last run by a control plane older than 1.6.0. Installs that still carry chart-1.5.0 ui.* values need to move them, and the removed -ui Service has to be replaced by the -api one. And an extraEnvVars override of a name chart 1.5.0 rendered is dropped by the first helm upgrade to 1.8.0, so it needs a second upgrade or a move to its values.yaml key.
charts/aisix folds the two held gateway-chart changes for this release:
Carries AISIX-Cloud#1949: drops the chart-1.5.0 compatibility layer (_legacy-env.tpl and its _env.tpl branch, apiEnvFromUI, the <release>-ui Service, ui.service and ui.extraEnvVars). Public adaptations (docker.io registries, tag defaulting to appVersion, NOTES gateway image, README) are kept.
The chart-1.5.0 compatibility layer is gone (AISIX-Cloud#1949), so the old section described behaviour this chart no longer has. The new one covers the 1.6.0 database floor, moving chart-1.5.0 ui.extraEnvVars sign-in settings and the removed <release>-ui Service, and the one-time loss of an extraEnvVars override of a name chart 1.5.0 rendered.
The 1.8.0 chart updates change control-plane upgrade guidance and environment-variable rendering, remove the control-plane UI Service, and document AISIX proxy settings for PROXY protocol headers and debug response headers.
Environment rendering no longer uses legacy entries. A user entry can replace a chart entry with the same name, except when a later value references that name through $(NAME). API and DPM deployments use the remaining chart and user entries. Values descriptions document the collision behavior.
The chart removes the <release>-ui Service and the ui.service.* and ui.extraEnvVars values and documentation.
Upgrade guidance and release metadata charts/aisix-cp/Chart.yaml, charts/aisix-cp/README.md, charts/aisix-cp/README.md.gotmpl
The chart documents the database upgrade requirement, environment-variable migration, and UI Service replacement for 1.8.0. Chart and application versions, install commands, and the gateway image example use version 1.8.0.

Summary
Proxy settings and release metadata charts/aisix/Chart.yaml, charts/aisix/README.md, charts/aisix/values.yaml
The chart documents PROXY protocol v1/v2 handling for trusted proxies and adds config.proxy.expose_debug_headers, with a default of false. Chart and application version references change to 1.8.0.
api7/api7-helm-chart#413: Retained legacy environment handling and the -ui Service that this change removes.
api7/api7-helm-chart#408: Introduced the 1.7.x control-plane upgrade path; this change documents the 1.8.0 upgrade requirements.
api7/api7-helm-chart#416: Documents PROXY protocol handling for trusted proxies, also documented in this chart update.

Merge Risk: Moderate · up to cda09
Upgrading from chart 1.5.0 with a master-key override can leave the control plane without its master key after the first upgrade, and the README does not warn about it. A rare escaped-reference override can also render duplicate environment names. The linked upgrade guide is stale until the docs are republished. Address the master-key upgrade guidance before merging.

Explanation
No security vulnerability is introduced by this pull request. Category 1: No issues found. config.proxy.expose_debug_headers is opt-in and defaults to false in charts/aisix/values.yaml:265-278; the change adds no credential, token, header, or log serialization. Category 2: No issues found. The changed control-plane templates continue to use secretKeyRef for passwords and master keys (charts/aisix-cp/templates/api-deployment.yaml:123-219 and dpm-deployment.yaml:141-168). Category 3: No issues found. The pull request changes no HTTP handlers or permission checks. Category 4: No issues found. It changes no resource queries or ownership validation. Category 5: No issues found. The PROXY protocol text is documentation only; it adds no TLS flag or verification logic. Category 6: No issues found. It changes no shared-resource or cascade operations. Category 7: No issues found. It changes no secret-reference resolution or connection handling. The reviewed diff contains only chart metadata, documentation, values, and Helm templates; the removed legacy environment and UI Service compatibility code does not add an authorization, exposure, persistence, or cryptographic bypass.
Full details: E2e Test Quality Review
Explanation
Blocking: the PR changes runtime Helm behavior without PR-specific E2E coverage. The diff changes charts/aisix-cp/templates/_env.tpl, both Deployments, and removes _legacy-env.tpl and ui-service.yaml. It also adds config.proxy.expose_debug_headers and changes trusted-proxy behavior documentation. The changed-file inventory contains no test or CI file. Existing CI lints aisix-cp, but its install job excludes that chart ( .github/workflows/ci.yaml:97-111 ). Existing AISIX render and Kind checks do not assert expose_debug_headers, PROXY protocol v1/v2, or the control-plane upgrade and Service migration flow.
Resolution
Add Kind E2E coverage. Install a supported pre-1.8.0 aisix-cp release with PostgreSQL and chart-1.5.0 compatibility values, upgrade to 1.8.0, and verify cp-api readiness, environment override recovery after the documented second upgrade, removal of <release>-ui, and access through <release>-api. Add gateway render and runtime checks for expose_debug_headers and PROXY protocol v1/v2 on trusted and untrusted peers, including multiple listeners and invalid headers.

Review comments at @charts/aisix-cp/README.md.gotmpl:
- Around line 230-231: Update the upgrade guidance in the README so operators
move database settings to the appropriate chart values and verify the target
database before starting 1.8.0. Remove the suggestion to run a second upgrade as
an equally safe way to restore the override.
- Around line 233-234: Update the Upgrade link or its accompanying guidance so
the 1.8.0 instructions set TARGET_VERSION appropriately and do not claim the
removed <release>-ui Service remains; if the linked guide cannot be updated,
qualify the link and include the complete 1.8.0 procedure here.
Review comments at @charts/aisix-cp/templates/_env.tpl:
- Line 27: Update the reference check governing chart-entry retention near
hasKey $userNames $entry.name so it matches only references Kubernetes expands;
ignore escaped $$(NAME) literals, allowing an overridden chart entry to be
omitted and keeping rendered environment names unique.
Review comments at @charts/aisix/values.yaml:
- Around line 238-243: Extend the AISIX end-to-end coverage for the proxy
settings in the chart fixture: enable config.proxy.expose_debug_headers and
verify debug headers, trusted PROXY v1/v2 handling, rejection of untrusted
peers, and client-IP handling. If existing AISIX integration tests already cover
these behaviors, link that coverage instead of duplicating it.

…ing to 1.8.0
While the first upgrade has dropped the override, cp-api runs on the chart-derived value; for the database URL that is the chart's database, which it migrates on start. Recommend moving the setting first and keep the second upgrade as recovery.

moving to 1.8.0. Document either restoring and verifying the live environment
entry before upgrading or preserving the duplicate through that upgrade; clarify
