Adds a Reliability Features row for write-behind on a miss: cachekit-py's opt-in write_behind=True, on main from cachekit-io/cachekit-py#623 and not yet released. Rust, TypeScript and PHP have no such option.

Merge after cachekit-io/cachekit-py#623; the row cites it as on main.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Updated the reliability feature matrix to document opt-in Python write-behind on a cache miss, marked as unreleased. The entry explains that values are placed in L1 before a bounded writer persists them, notes that async distributed-lock and streaming-write paths remain synchronous, and warns that another process’s invalidation may not prevent a queued write from landing afterwards.

Walkthrough

The reliability feature matrix adds an unreleased Python write-behind option. It describes how values reach L1 and L2, identifies async distributed-lock and streaming-write paths that remain synchronous, and notes that another process’s invalidation does not reach queued writes.

Layer / File(s) Summary
Document write-behind behaviour
sdk-feature-matrix.md
The matrix describes the opt-in write_behind=True path. It states that the caller thread serialises the value and places it in L1, while a bounded per-function writer handles the L2 write. Async distributed-lock and streaming-write paths remain synchronous. Another process’s invalidation does not reach queued writes, which can land afterwards.

⚠️ Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.

Clarify the L2 write operation.

the writer sends the write is awkward and unclear. Use the writer performs the L2 write or the writer sends the L2 write request.

Proposed wording
- ... a bounded per-function writer sends the write; ...
+ ... a bounded per-function writer performs the L2 write; ...

Use a precise term for the L2 operation.

The phrase writer sends the write is ambiguous. Replace it with writer performs the L2 write or writer writes the value to L2.
