Note

No merge-order dependency left. cachekit-io/cachekit-py#627 has merged. main now carries the TypeScript cells (cachekit-io/protocol#204), so this PR no longer changes them and no longer carries cachekit-io/protocol#203's cells. Whichever of this PR and cachekit-io/protocol#203 lands second will conflict on the two table rows they share, because each row is one line; resolve that cell by cell.

What

Brings the Python cells of the SDK feature matrix up to cachekit-core 0.7.0, which is on crates.io with the Retrieve Flow step-2 envelope pre-scan (cachekit-io/cachekit-core#80) and the allocation probe (cachekit-io/cachekit-core#100).

  • Python, Wire format (ByteStorage): ⚠️ → ✅ on main, unreleased. Drops the envelope pre-scan exception (cachekit-py pins core 0.7.0 since cachekit-io/cachekit-py#618), the reject_envelope_slots_overclaim strict-xfail clause (removed in the same PR), and the allocation-bound exception. cachekit-py relies on core's probe for the WIRE-17 bound of the size-cap and ratio vectors, under the passthrough rule in Reject vectors, with a test tying that to the locked core version (cachekit-io/cachekit-py#627). It still says that cachekit-py 0.24.1 and earlier pin core 0.6.0 or older.
  • Python, Test vectors in CI: drops the envelope-entry-point exception. cachekit-io/cachekit-py#627 drives every decode-bounds.json 1.2.0 vector through ByteStorage.retrieve, asserting the pre-scan's error and, for depth-only and overclaim-only vectors, its reason.
  • Rust (canonical cachekit-core), Wire format: 🚧 → ✅. The pre-scan is on crates.io since 0.7.0.
  • Footnote 16: cachekit-py relies on core 0.7.0's probe for the size-cap and ratio bound, and drives its decode-bounds.json copy through ByteStorage.retrieve. The core sentences themselves are main's.
  • Release markers: in the two Python cells and footnote 16, cachekit-io/cachekit-py#522, #537, #550 and #561 said unreleased; all four are in cachekit-py 0.23.0 (git tag --contains on each merge commit). The cachekit-rs and cachekit-ts markers are unchanged.

Verification

  • crates.io cachekit-core 0.7.0 .crate: src/byte_storage.rs decode_envelope runs check_msgpack_structure before the typed decode, for both retrieve and validate; src/read_allocation_probe.rs holds the probe.
  • The 0.7.0 publish job ran the probe and its positive control on the tag commit (publish job, test step).
  • cachekit-py v0.24.1:rust/Cargo.toml pins cachekit-core 0.6.0, and older releases pin older cores; main pins 0.7.0.
  • python3 tools/check-version-floors.py, python3 tools/test_changelog_collect.py and python3 tools/conformance.py check pass. Table rows keep their five cells.

…, unreleased

Both cachekit-ts bindings now pin cachekit-core 0.7.0, whose
ByteStorage::retrieve pre-scans the envelope, and every decode-bounds.json
vector runs through both unpack bindings. The TypeScript Wire format and Test
vectors cells drop their envelope pre-scan exceptions and stay unreleased until
a published core-ts and core-wasm carry core 0.7.0. The allocation probe clause
no longer says no core release has one.
… 0.7.0

cachekit-core 0.7.0 is on crates.io with the Retrieve Flow step-2 pre-scan
and the allocation probe, and cachekit-py pins it. The Python Wire format
cell drops its pre-scan, allocation-bound and strict-xfail exceptions, the
Python Test vectors cell drops its envelope-entry-point exception, and the
canonical core cell and footnote 16 stop saying no core release carries the
pre-scan or the probe. The two Python cells also mark the cachekit-py PRs
that shipped in 0.23.0 as released.

…y what the tests pin

npm @cachekit-io/cachekit pins cachekit-core-ts and cachekit-core-wasm exactly,
so republishing the bindings alone does not reach SDK users: the cells now stay
unreleased until a published cachekit depends on bindings that embed core 0.7.0.
The Test vectors cell now says which vectors pin a reason (depth-only and
overclaim-only) instead of claiming every single-rule vector does.

The Test vectors cell now says these PRs run since cachekit-py 0.23.0, but
footnote 16 still called them unreleased, so the two disagreed. Footnote 16
now gives the same release for each cachekit-py PR; its cachekit-rs and
cachekit-ts markers are unchanged.

@27Bslash6
27Bslash6 dismissed coderabbitai[bot]’s stale review October 23, 2026 16:13

CodeRabbit's one finding (footnote 16 release markers) is fixed in f028dc6, and CodeRabbit acknowledged the fix in its thread reply; the thread is resolved. Its incremental review of f028dc6 was rate limited, so this stale CHANGES_REQUESTED would otherwise stand. Dismissal is not approval; a human reviews and merges.

Review fixes. cachekit-py releases before 0.20.0 pin core older than 0.6.0,
so the cell now says 0.24.1 and earlier pin 0.6.0 or older. The WIRE-17
link marks the bound; the allowance cachekit-py relies on is the passthrough
rule in Reject vectors, now named and linked. Footnote 6 no longer calls the
aarch64 hardware-acceleration fix unreleased: it ships in cachekit-core 0.7.0.

main now carries the TypeScript cells, footnote 6's core 0.7.0 fix and
footnote 16's core sentences, so this branch no longer changes them. The

The Python Test vectors cell and footnote 16 said cachekit-py vendors the
current python-frame.json. It vendors the revision before padded_header_frame
was added (11 frame vectors against 12), so that vector does not run in its
CI. Both now name the vendored revision and the one it lacks.
