A few things in the root README that have been out of date for a while:

  • The note that Python support is a public preview. Python for Cloud Functions for Firebase has been generally available since October 2023.
  • The intro called Cloud Functions "a Node.js environment where you can run JavaScript or Python code."
  • The "User data cleanup" entry still linked to Node-1st-gen/user-data-cleanup and described a sample that moved out years ago. The repo it moved to now lives at FirebaseExtended/user-data-protection and its README says it's reference-only, so the entry says that and points to the maintained path, the Delete User Data extension. The stub directory stays so old links still land somewhere; its README gets the same pointer.
  • The copyright line said 2015-2023.

No code changes. This touches different lines than #1352, #1353, and #1354, but if those merge first I'll rebase.

Python support left preview in October 2023, the user-data-cleanup
sample moved to firebase/user-data-protection years ago, and the
copyright line stopped at 2023.

Code Review

This pull request updates the README.md file by removing the public preview note for Python support, simplifying the 'User data cleanup' section to point directly to its new repository, and updating the copyright year range to 2015-2026. There are no review comments, and I have no feedback to provide.

The moved repo is reference-only now; link the Delete User Data extension and fix the stub README's URL. Also drop "Node.js" from the intro, since Python is supported too.
