Summary

The squeakwell binary did not build on main: src/main.rs redeclared abi/engine/ingest/manifest as private modules but not verisim, so engine's use crate::verisim failed with E0432. This PR makes the binary consume the library crate instead, drops a dead binding, and refreshes the stale lockfile.

A planning document (architecture, what else must be created across verisimdb / vcl-ut / echo-types / tropical-types, the proof ladder, and the ultracode engineering session plan) follows on this branch once the multi-agent survey completes.

Changes

  • src/main.rs: replace module redeclarations with use squeakwell::{engine, ingest};
  • src/verisim.rs: remove unused obj binding in session_doc (was an unused-variable warning that did nothing)
  • Cargo.lock: regenerated; the committed lock predated the ureq/urlencoding/criterion dependencies in Cargo.toml

RSR Quality Checklist

Required

  • Tests pass (cargo test: 23 passed across e2e/property/unit)
  • Code is formatted
  • Linter is clean (cargo clippy --all-targets: one pre-existing unused-import warning in tests/e2e_test.rs, not introduced here)
  • No banned language patterns
  • No unsafe blocks (#[forbid(unsafe_code)] already in place)
  • No banned functions
  • SPDX license headers present on all modified source files
  • No secrets, credentials, or .env files included

As Applicable

  • .machine_readable/STATE.a2ml updated
  • .machine_readable/ECOSYSTEM.a2ml updated
  • .machine_readable/META.a2ml updated
  • Documentation updated for user-facing changes (planning document to follow on this branch)
  • TOPOLOGY.md updated
  • CHANGELOG or release notes updated
  • New dependencies reviewed for license compatibility (no new dependencies declared; lockfile only)
  • ABI/FFI changes validated (none in this PR)

Testing

cargo build # Finished dev profile
cargo test # 8 e2e + 5 property + 10 unit = 23 passed
cargo clippy --all-targets

…session_doc

main.rs redeclared abi/engine/ingest/manifest as private modules but not
verisim, so engine's use of crate::verisim failed with E0432 and the
binary did not build. The binary now imports engine and ingest from the
squeakwell library crate, which already exports all five modules.

session_doc built an unused as_object_mut() binding that triggered an
unused-variable warning and did nothing; removed.

cargo build, cargo test (23 tests) and cargo clippy are clean.

The committed lockfile predated the VeriSimDB client dependencies declared
in Cargo.toml; cargo build regenerated it.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Refactor
    • Updated internal application organization and simplified session document handling. Command-line commands and their behavior remain unchanged. This release does not add or remove user-facing functionality; the changes are limited to internal implementation details and should not alter how the application is used.

The changes update module imports in the CLI entry point and remove state-processing code from session_doc. The CLI command definitions and dispatch remain unchanged.

Changes: CLI Module Imports

Layer / File(s) Summary
Update CLI module imports
src/main.rs
The entry point imports engine and ingest from the squeakwell crate instead of declaring local modules for abi, engine, ingest, and manifest.

Session Document Cleanup

Layer / File(s) Summary
Remove state-processing code
src/verisim.rs
session_doc retains its existing signature. The function no longer clones state or performs a mutable-object lookup. The related comment is also removed.

CI status on 7ba8a57: three checks are red, and all three are also red on the current main head (47a5fe6, dogfood-gate run 39915630287 and Hypatia runs 39915630830 / 40146621364). None touches a file this PR changes (src/main.rs, src/verisim.rs, Cargo.lock), so I am not widening this PR to fix them. Root causes and proposed patches, for the "make it honest" pass that the route plan on this branch will schedule:

  • Validate K9 contracts — container/deploy.k9.ncl lacks the K9! magic first line and a pedigree.name; it is still an unrendered template ({{PROJECT_NAME}} in its header). Patch: prepend K9!, set pedigree.metadata.name = "squeakwell-deploy", add schema_version and security.leash = 'Hunt, replace the placeholder.
  • Validate DEED manifests — docs/governance/MAINTENANCE-CHECKLIST.a2ml has no identity field (agent-id, name or project) in its [metadata] block. Patch: add project = "squeakwell" under [metadata].
  • Hypatia neurosymbolic scan — reports 6 critical findings; same count on main. No diff-local cause; needs its findings artifact reviewed in a dedicated pass.

No re-run is warranted: the failures are deterministic file-content checks, not flakes.
