107-110: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winAssert that owner-revision collisions do not mutate the ConfigMap.
The two collision scenarios check only the
ObjectCollisioncondition. Add the existingdata.k: owned-by-ownerassertion after each condition step.♻️ Suggested test additions
Then ClusterObjectSet "main-${TEST_NAMESPACE}" reports Ready as False with Reason ObjectCollision and Message includes: """ Cannot take ownership of 1 object(s) in phase "resources" because they are owned by another controller or already exist. Add a cos_object_collision_and_adoption.feature suite exercising how the revision's collisionProtection setting governs ownership of pre-existing objects: - Prevent reports Ready=False/ObjectCollision for a pre-existing unowned object and for an object owned by another revision; - IfNoController adopts an unowned object but still reports ObjectCollision for an object owned by another revision; - None adopts in both cases, taking over ownership; and - a Prevent collision recovers to Ready=True/AllObjectsReady once the conflicting object is removed. Objects owned by "another revision" are set up with a second ClusterObjectSet placed in a different spec.group so the two revisions are not treated as siblings. 350-363: 🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winAssert controller ownership after recovery.
ResourceMatcheschecks only the fields in its DocString. This assertion can pass whendata.kismanagedbut the ConfigMap has no controller reference or has a different controller. Add a positive ownership assertion formain-${TEST_NAMESPACE}. The existing “not owned” helper cannot detect this state.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

In the future we may also consider to check that:
- the UID hasn't changed (the object was not re-created)
- the ownerRef has been updated
...or maybe not, since we own the code that does the adoption and I don't think we will change that too often 🤷🏻

Description
Adds
test/e2e/features/cos_object_collision_and_adoption.feature, exercising how a ClusterObjectSet'scollisionProtectionsetting governs taking ownership of pre-existing objects. This is the first e2e coverage of the COS-levelObjectCollisionreason and of theIfNoController/Nonecollision modes (existing COS scenarios only usePrevent).collisionProtectionPreventReady=False / ObjectCollision(object left untouched)PreventReady=False / ObjectCollisionIfNoControllerReady=False / ObjectCollisionIfNoControllerReady=True / AllObjectsReady(adopted)NoneReady=True / AllObjectsReady(adopted)NoneReady=True / AllObjectsReady(ownership taken over)PreventReady=TrueAdoption scenarios additionally assert (via
resource … matches) that the object's data was updated to the revision's desired value, proving ownership was actually taken rather than merely "not colliding."Testing
Ran the suite against the object-controller built from this branch's base on a local experimental KIND cluster:
Notes
@BoxcutterRuntime. Reuses existing step definitions; no step code changes.None-over-foreign case reaches a stable steady state: the adopting revision becomes the controller owner and staysAllObjectsReady, while the original owner (Prevent) settles atObjectCollisionwithout fighting back.update.feature, which asserts the ClusterExtension-levelProgressing=Retryingmapping, not the COS-levelObjectCollisionreason; and no existing scenario usesIfNoController/None.🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Prevent,IfNoController, andNonepolicies. Tests now check how each policy handles unowned objects and objects managed by another revision, and verify that aPreventcollision clears and the object becomes managed after the conflict is removed and reconciliation runs.
